Japan Rejects Bitcoin Reserves
The Japanese government has responded cautiously to the idea of holding Bitcoin in its national reserves, following a suggestion from Senator Hamada Satoshi.
He had proposed that Japan consider adopting Bitcoin as part of its reserves, similar to discussions reportedly happening in USA, arguing that this could strengthen Japan’s economy and mitigate financial risks.
In its response, the government stated it lacks detailed knowledge of such developments abroad and emphasized that talks about Bitcoin reserves are still in the early stages.
It also highlighted that Japan’s current legal framework for foreign exchange reserves prioritizes safety and stability—qualities not typically associated with Bitcoin’s volatility.
As a result, Bitcoin is not seen as compatible with the country’s existing approach to managing its reserves
Bitcoin Accumulation via Privacy Transactions On The Rise!
Whales are increasingly using privacy transactions to accumulate Bitcoin. Over the past two years, the annual average of CoinJoin transactions has grown significantly.
While some link this rise to hackers laundering funds, a Chainalysis report shows hacker-related losses this year amount to $2.2 billion—less than 0.5% of Bitcoin’s $377 billion realized market value inflow.
In 2024, 1.55 million BTC were transferred to accumulation addresses, primarily associated with ETFs, MicroStrategy, and custodial wallets.
Whales often use privacy transactions to move funds to new institutional investors. However, beyond publicly known holdings, the ownership of roughly 240,000 to 420,000 BTC remains unidentified
